History

MSN Hotmail, also termed as Hotmail, is the brainchild of Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith – the formal employees of Apple. Two individual spearheaded the very concept of hotmail which became one of the most popular and sought after mode of e-communication. On July 4, 1996 they jointly launched this email service which took its ultimate shape after two years of constant deliberation and hard work. Their venture was endorsed by Draper Fisher Ventures, investing $300,000 in this project.

The hotmail was taken over by Microsoft at approximately $400 million in 1997 and subsequently released in 2007 under the brand name of “MSN Hotmail”.
